What Is The Tea Party Movement and Can they Change Anything?
What Is The Tea Party?
If you’ve been wondering exactly what is the tea party then you are definitely in the right place because I’m about to explain exactly what the modern day tea party is all about. First of all it’s mostly known as the Tea Party Movement and it’s really grown a great deal over the last few years. The reason why people from all over the place are being drawn to this movement is that the majority of the people in this day and age haven’t been part of a grassroots movement like this so it’s very new to them and very exciting.
The reason why the tea party movement is so effective is that the people involved have a very strong and deep appreciation for the United States of America, and they want to make sure that it stays true to the way that our Founding Fathers created this great nation of ours. When the Constitution was first created it was expected to be followed very strictly and without too much extra interpretation.
The main thing going on with the people participating in the tea party movement is that they feel like we need to seriously begin to take action immediately if we are going to get our country back on track and on the path that our forefathers envisioned where we’d be. Mainly, the people in the tea party have a strong feeling that the main Republican and Democratic parties are no longer interested in taking care of the needs of the people and the time for change and the need to clean house in our government is definitely at hand.
What Is The Tea Party?
When people ask me what is the tea party, I am confident in telling them that the individuals in the tea party are not particularly endorsing any solution to our current economic troubles, and they aren’t really promoting any specific party or candidate either. The members of the movement are very worried since Congress keeps taking power and given it to themselves, while they completely ignore the needs and suggestions of the voters. They know that it doesn’t matter what type of taxes keep getting put in place in our country, because if we continue on the way we are moving our country will be bankrupted. So what difference will it make what type of taxes you pay?
The main thing I believe you should think of when somebody asks you what is the tea party is that they believe that they are a springboard for the people of the United States of America. And they are the first starting point that will finally give the people a voice and power in our nation once again.
Understanding America’s New Tea Party
What Is The Tea Party?
The Tea Party movement continually gets press, is talked about, and even is featured on major TV shows. However, it seems as if not many people are actually aware of what the Tea Party actually is. The Tea Party movement is a conservative-libertarian populist movement that basically grew tired of the inability to actually get heard when it came to issues such as taxation.

With the economic downturn that America has experienced in the past 5-10 years, it comes as no surprise that everyone seems to have something to say about how to improve life in the USA. The Tea Party is not actually a political party per se, but does have several key issues and politician stances that it takes. Members of the Tea Party movement are against taxation, and want to reduce the national debt and budget deficit. The vast majority also want to see a new style of tax reform, ideally one which favors working-class citizens. Simplifying taxes is another major issue that the Tea Party movement stands for. Most Tea Party members believe in a very originalists interpretation of the Constitution.
Because of the strong opposition that the party has towards taxation, they borrowed the name from the historical protest of the Boston Tea Party. During the original 18th century protest, members of the Boston Tea Party through the highly taxed boxes of British Tea overboard. “No taxation without representation” was the motto then, and it still is the motto now with the new incarnation of the Tea Party movement. For some Tea Party members, the word “TEA” stands as a backwards-spelled acronym as “Taxed Enough Already.”
What is the Tea Party All About?
People who are members of the new Tea Party movement take many different forms. The reasons that people join the Tea Party are just as varied as the backgrounds that they come from. Some are small business owners who are noticing that their profits are suffering from high tax rates. Others are simply people who dislike the growing disparity between taxes of the poor and of the wealthy. Even more are members because they simply want to have the tax system simplified.
Tea Party members are often seen at protests, as well as writing about political issues. During times when officials are elected, many Tea Party organizations will select a politician who stands for issues similar to local beliefs on taxation, healthcare, and economic reform. They often get labeled, “Tea Party Approved” by supporters. Currently, the vast majority of Tea Party movement supporters disagree with the way that Obama has been acting as president. 77% of all Tea Party members voted for McCain in the last election.
What is the Tea Party Movement?
Controversy has plagued the Tea Party due to the focus on highly controversial issues like healthcare, illegal immigration, and taxes in the United States. Outsiders have a very split view on this controversial political movement. Although there are slightly more people who have a negative view of the Tea Party Movement, the opinions are still almost 50-50. Depending on how the future protests and elections turn out, this outsider view might change soon.
There have been some rumors that a political party might emerge from the Tea Party movement. Although there is no official statements regarding such an event, it may happen in the distant future. Should this happen, the Tea Party will cease to be a grassroots political movement, and will begin to become a regular political party.
The Tea Party Movement
What is the Tea Party?
You may have heard a little about this new movement in American politics. The Tea Party as it is called has America caught up in a frenzy and infused the archaic two-party political system with some new blood and much needed enthusiasm. This movement is founded in the spirit of our founders, and although it does sound like it is based on the Boston Tea Party it is a completely different movement. This new movement started creating a stir in the beginning of 2009 when the leader of Young Americans for Liberty, Trevor Leach, organized a Tea Party like protest of New York’s taxes. There were several more and they were also focused on the 2008 legislation of health-care reform, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, and the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act, all of which the new Tea Party thought was unnecessary.
The Tea Party is as close to a third party in the storied history of two party politics in a very long time. They seem quite upset and they really are, but what has them so upset? The biggest qualm that they have is that no one is listening to them and that really pisses them off, and gets them inspired more than anything. Adding to their frustration, they believe that Washington is spending too much money and that taxes are too high. This is enough to create a stir within the fabric of our political system. Is it enough of a stir to create lasting change? It is too early to tell on this, but there is definitely a fervor unlike there has been in a long time.
The movement is made up of a majority of white members, and most are Republicans. There have been multiple polls of the members and while each one shows different results, the majority of the members are wedded and older than 45 years old.
There is no central leadership of the group, and it is not yet a political party, only a political movement. Although there are some figures that seem to be leading the movement like Rand Paul, Sarah Palin, and Glen Beck.
This movement definitely has some traction. Stay tuned as this is an exciting time in American politics and it will be interesting to see how the Tea Party develops.

How do you like your Tea?
So have you heard about the Tea Party? What is the Tea Party to you? The Tea Party can be seen as a great group of people who are bringing America back to its roots, or they can be seen as a bunch of zealots. When you boil it down, it is a political party and all of the things that come with that. The Tea Party is a group of devoted people to a cause, like all political parties. Whether you align with them or not is up to you, but you can’t help but admire the fact that they are creating quite the stir through Washington. The Tea Party is really making some waves as they grow in steam. It is hard to believe that they are only 2 years old, but they are. They are new and have a lot of energy. I am not saying that they are the answer to everything, but do not throw the baby out with the bath water.
The modern Day Tea Party is on a crusade, and I can’t say that I am one of them yet, but am glad that things are moving around in Washington. This could be a very beneficial thing for America. I can see more transparency in our government, because more officials will be demanding it. I know that politics is politics and that the same old things will occur, but I think they will occur less due to a higher level of accountability. This is my hope at least, but is by no means guaranteed.

What is the Tea Party?
Modern Day Tea Party
Today’s Tea Party has no relation to the Boston Tea Party. They do find some of their inspiration in the Boston Tea Party, but they are a relatively new creation. They first showed up in January of 2009, when the first protests were organized by Trevor Leach. These protests were against the taxes in New York. This was an important day for the Tea Party, because it was the first time that organized protests were held in the name of the Tea Party.
As you can tell, the Tea Party is not old at all. It is a young and dynamic political movement, however some people just say it is the Republican Party in new packaging. One thing is for certain when talking about the modern day Tea Party, that they have created a very dynamic and impressive following in there short time. They have organized movements across the country and have a very strong following for their short existence of only 2 years.
The Tea Party vs the Libertarian Party
What is the Tea Party?
When was the Tea Party Founded?
The Tea Party as we know it today, has only been in existence since 2009. It is not to be confused with the Boston Tea Party, although they do use it as inspiration. The Tea Party is a very new organization, but they are very impressive in the amount of traction and support they have garnered over the past 2 years.
They have put many candidates in office and one of their biggest wins was the recent win by Rand Paul, the son of Ron Paul. He is a junior member of the Republican Party, and is a big supporter of the Tea Party. He has a new book out which you can find here:
The Beginnings of the Tea Party
The Tea Party, not to be confused with the Boston Tea Party from the revolutionary days, was formed in 2009. They have been building a lot of momentum and gaining new supporters by the day. They are strongly anti-tax and are very passionate about this. The Tea Party has been supporting government officers who are more conservative in their politics.
Some people think the Tea Party is a fad, but with the number of supporters they have, some people find it hard to believe. Tea Party’ers are devout about their politics. They have staged many rallies and support candidates like Rand Paul. They also side with Glenn Beck and his style of politics and reporting. The basic agenda of all Tea Party members is to reduce government and cut taxes. The smaller the government, the better off they think America will be.
This is an exciting time for politics, because this is the first time in many years that their is actually a third party that has some leverage. No one can predict into the future, but it is safe to say that the Tea Party will be around for the foreseeable future. The only thing left to see is how big the Tea Party will become.
